Field Notes

As I was putting on my shoes, I thought, Oh, I should take a camera. Then I wondered how I wanted to look at the world this morning – wide or close up? I couldn't decide, so I flipped a coin. Heads? 24mm (wide). Tails? 85mm (close up). Heads, 24mm.

I headed out to the field to see what I could see. According to my watch, I spent 21 minutes walking and 20 minutes standing still. This is new for me, the standing still part. I'm trying to get to know our land a bit better, so I'm learning to slow down and pay attention.

My favourite discovery was the wasp nest. It may be the least spectacular photograph, but to me, it's the most special because it represents an OH WOW! Look what I noticed! moment. In my world, it's Dave who notices all the things. Today? It was me. Also, slugs!
