National Tree Day is coming!
Which seems like a really good reason to get a little weird about trees.
On September 23rd, Maya and I are heading up Fitzpatrick Mountain for a slow, family-friendly wander through our beautiful Wabanaki Forest, and we’d love for you to come with us. This isn’t really a hike so much as an excuse to slow down and pay attention. You might see me say that quite a lot moving forward. Pay attention. Why? Because as Mary Oliver once said, “Attention is the beginning of devotion.” If you pay attention, you will fall in love with the world. And when you love something? You take care of it.
So yup, we’ll wander. We’ll ooooh and ahhhh over trees. We’ll read a little poetry (probably Mary Oliver, ha!), stop for some quiet sit spots, look closely at the forest around us and yes, probably hug a few trees. Why? Because trees are incredible! They’re our friends, and we need to remind ourselves of that sometimes.
Does this sound like a fantastic way to while away an evening? Yes?! Then come wander with us, slow down, look closely and reconnect with the wonder and beauty of trees.
